The Peak of Disappointment in the Law Enforcement Ending the Burning of Ciracas Police

PorosNasional. The burning incident of the Sector Police Headquarters (Mapolsek) Ciracas, East Jakarta is considered as an accumulation of disappointment in law enforcement. This was conveyed by police observer from the Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISeSS) Bambang Rukminto.

Bambang said that a burning action must have a background. According to him, the thing behind the burning of the Mapolsek Ciracas incident was the emergence of a gap between expectations and reality. In this case the gap between expectations of law enforcement is far from the facts.

"The accumulation of disappointment related to the gap caused the action," Bambang said in a written statement received

The burning incident carried out by a group of people was very alarming and gave birth to question marks regarding the performance of the security forces in Indonesia.
"This should also be read as a signal that something is wrong with the performance of our police," Bambang said.

Bambang considers the burning of the police headquarters a very serious problem because it relates to the authority of the government apparatus which should be safeguarded to ensure that the law is implemented.

On the other hand, said Bambang, the burning of the Ciracas Police Station also showed the police as officers authorized to maintain order and the security of the public and the state failed to build public participation in the security sector.

Furthermore, Bambang highlighted the intelligence function in anticipating the combustion of the Ciracas Police Station. According to him, intelligence should be able to detect acts of arson that a group of people want to do early because an action carried out by a group of masses takes time and cannot be done instantly.

"This time lag should be an opportunity for the intelligence function to detect early potential security threats. Why does early detection not work?" he said.

He argued, many factors could be the cause of failure of intelligence to detect incidents of burning Ciracas Mapolsek early. One of them, disappointment in the internal police is related to reward and punishment (rewards and punishments).

"There is no reward for the achievers, and even punishment for those who do not have achievement may lead to internal disappointment resulting in a decline in personnel performance," he said.

Bambang added, the evaluation related to the arson incident could not only be placed on one Ciracas Police institution or just an intelligence and security unit because the police work had to be done integrally.

"The Ciracas police station is only one of the target points, because this can happen anywhere. This can be used as material for introspection to the National Police in general," he said.

Separately, another police observer from ISeSS Khairul Fahmi responded to the burning incident of the Ciracas Police Headquarters by encouraging the National Police to improve seriously in order to be able to carry out their duties and functions as well as possible under the law and seriously eliminate bad practices that often occur today.

According to him, providing good service will reduce dissatisfaction and mobilize more significant support from the community for police work.

"The National Police needs it all to deal with this unavoidable situation constructively," he said through a short message

According to him, the burning incident of the Ciracas police station showed and resulted in some people losing their fear of the police institution.

As a protector and protector of the community, he continued, the National Police should be able to protect themselves. Ciracas Mapolsek burning incident, continued Khairul, also should not have happened.

According to him, other state apparatus must respect the police institution so as not to lose public trust.

"Something that should be properly guarded by the National Police as a protector and protector. Something that should be taken care of and respected by other state apparatus so that the people do not lose trust," he said.

The police have not been able to ascertain the motive behind the burning of the Ciracas Mapolsek on Wednesday morning. The police themselves have formed a joint team of members from the Metro Jaya Regional Police and East Jakarta District Police to investigate this incident.

Police also claimed that they were investigating allegations of incidents of beating members of the TNI by parking attendants in Cibubur, East Jakarta on Monday behind the Burning of Ciracas Mapolsek.

"The connection is being explored too," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian Police Public Relations Division Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo at the National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta on Wednesday.

The Jaya Military Regional Command (Kodam Jaya / Jayakarta) has also investigated allegations of involvement of its members in the event of the Ciracas Mapolsek arson.

Head of Information for the Kodam (Kapendam) Jaya Colonel (Inf) Kristomei Sianturi said the Army Police (POM) of the Army had coordinated with the Metro Jaya Regional Police to thoroughly investigate the cases of arson mentioned in connection with the beatings

"Pom TNI AD and Polda Metro are investigating the case of the Ciracas Police Headquarters whether there is involvement of an army officer," Kristomei said.
